The Snazzies - Animated short film
The Snazzies - Development Reel
"The Snazzies" animated short itself tells the tale of 3 bridesmaid dresses who have been dumped by an angry bride who shreds her wedding dress after finding her groom trying on one of the bridesmaid dresses (the Slinkies). The discarded Slinkies quickly discover they have been ditched in Snazzy Alley near a popular dating venue for single clothes (Mix & Match). Their excitement gets the better of them as they accidently pick "the Saggies" (Saggie Jeans) by mistake and have to sit through the dating videos of Hitch, Stitch and Rocco. Hilarity ensues.
The short was developed entirely on the Maya 3D platform & edited together in Adobe After Effects by David J. Vandepeer at the behest of creator & writer Catherine Moye. Catherine Moye is a freelance journalist who has been a frequent contributor to most of the UK’s best-known national titles, including The Financial Times and its glossy magazine How To Spend It, The Sunday Times, Guardian, and Mail on Sunday. The role was essentially to act as an ad hoc visualiser and post progress regularly on a blog or via email for feedback (blog link here - http://thelostsubject.blogspot.com). The developer reel shows the pipeline for the 2 full hand painted environments, props and principle characters of the short - the Saggies & the Slinkies as part of the animated clothing troupe - the Snazzies.
