IPad Doodle Blog - New Beginnings

News / 17 November 2019

Hello everyone,
(The one person actually looking at this).

I have decided to start moving some of my attention away from my life long love (gaming) in order to actually make my dreams come true and experience the games industry. If you have found this blog (hidden deep in the bowels of the artstation elite I commend you, and thank you for checking me out. This blog will be largely about my development as an artist. (Insert idiotic photo of myself below).

Yes that is me, proud and happy sporting my new 12.9 IPAD which is where a lot of my personal development as an artist is going to be going. I know its a controversial move to divest so much time away from Photoshop but ive given it a few years its time to gift Procreate with my time. This also has the advantage of allowing me to sketch, wherever and whenever I want... without the mess. If I have 5 minutes here, an hour there, wherever I am, waiting for a meeting or just on the end run of my lunch break I can draw something... I like being able to say that, and all I need is this IPAD, my apple pencil and were good to go.

I am moving away a little from the PC because its just quicker to dive into my IPAD and draw. Now time for some random information that you didn't ask for. I have a stand for my drawing at work and I currently have a second tablet that holds all of the naked people I will be trying to draw, slowly, quickly, in a series of sketches. My initial topic (for as long as I want cuz its my blog see) will be drawing people. I am also watching a daily regimen of the Proko Gesture Drawing course, and I'm diving periodically into the facebook group for that too. I am also an avid and somewhat casual connoisseur of the Pencil Kings community which is always a place to go for good support and advice to hone ones craft.

While these are all trivial elements of my drawing experience they are vital and will contribute to my evolution.
Now lets take a look at my main tool: the IPAD Pro 12.9 250GB with Apple Pencil (2018)

(IMG 2 - Apple Pencil) Yes I got mine custom branded sue me I like to brand my work as much as possible.

(IMG 3 - IPAD with Paper Like Cover) Thats another thing it has a paper like protector to make the experience authentic.

(IMG 4 - Pencil in Case) I had to go out of my way (Hong Kong - Casetify) to get this case made, the market is currently shit for 12.9 Tablets.

(IMG 5 - Front Cover) Lots of me, or the many faces of me? Not sure.

(IMG 6 - Case Standing) I only use it like this to watch Proko at lunch, its not strong enough for sketching.

(IMG 7 - IPad on standing case) I generally draw on my lap and put my reference on this stand, its just easier.

(IMG 7 - IPad closed on stand) This is how I keep it at work, its nice to look at me while I work.

Well thats enough swanking about my amazing tablet, (btw you guys can tell I'm being sarcastic through this right?). I'll try not to do this for future posts I know its a bit of a mixed bag. I just wanted to show the only tool I will be using to get most of my work done. If you see a 3D model or something on my site just know that it wasn't created using just an IPad although I do have Polydust on it. I also have a timer app on my iPad which allows me to control the chaos so when I post a sketch that says 2 minutes, it is 2 minutes because I timed it and stopped (give or take a second) when the timer rang.

Okay I have a back catalogue of sketches to post here, so you will have to bear with me when it comes to dates. I just want this out there so I can keep moving onwards and upwards and hopefully not annoying people with my sense of humour.

Catcha later doods!
