Sugar Free Socks Explainer Animation

This was a little commission I actually got over Artstation on the dawn of my new employ at Inspired Entertainment. The brief was for simple "explainer" characters that illustrated the clients product on their website (diabetic & compression socks) benefits in a light and fun way. Initially the storyboard was rather broad and had the narrative of a professor character discovering and illustrating the socks effectiveness. This broadened into more abstract characters and shapes (kind of like "Mister Men"). The client simplified it further by having the shaped characters with no faces, with the key tenet being the socks with the shapes discomfort/pleasure being illustrated by visual cues (rain, turning into a heart, clouds - as light as air). My initial drawings/storyboards themselves were done in procreate, the final character animations were done in After Effects with the Rubber Hose plugin. I was not responsible for the final character designs, just their motion.
